Important Updates from SYAS

Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has recently announced new enhanced precautionary measures to further protect the education system. The link to the press release can be found here.
In light of the announcement and recent developments, San Yu Adventist School (SYAS) intends to comply with the government recommendation by implementing the following measures. This list will be regularly updated as the situation evolves.
- SYAS will re-open for Term 2 on 23 March 2020 (Monday) as planned.
- Students and staff of SYAS who have been out of Singapore on or after 14 March will be issued a 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA).
- Students who flew back from an affected region declared by the Singapore Multi-Ministry Taskforce dated will be placed on Stay Home Notice (SHN). (See affected regions here ).
- Suspension of Co-curricular Activities for 2 weeks.
- Regular cleaning of frequently used contact points.
- Health checks and frequent temperature screening for all staff and students.
Many parents and guardians are concerned about why schools are not closed. SYAS will like to echo the words of the Singapore Government that closing school will disrupt many lives but the possibility of school closure will not be ruled out if it is necessary to do so. Based on the current information that we have acquired, there is only a small number of students and staff who have traveled during the March holidays. Hence, SYAS will re-open so as not to disrupt and affect the lives of the majority of our students.
Nevertheless SYAS will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure that the school remains a safe and secure environment for all.
