Dear Parents/Guardian,

P6 Study Break for PSLE and Zoom Meeting with Parents/Guardians

It has been a challenging year for all our P6 students, who have gone through many new life changing experiences. It is heartening to see them weather through these challenges to build resilience and stay focused on their primary school end goal in mind. They would not have been able to do so without your untiring support and guidance. Our teachers and I would like to thank you for your help, especially during this pandemic period, to keep our students safe and secure in coming to school. We are at the final lap of the journey and they will soon be able to achieve whatever they have set out to do.

This letter is to inform you that according to a media release on Saturday, 18 September, the Ministry of Education (MOE) mentioned that Primary 6 students will go on a study break from 25 to 29 September prior to the start of PSLE on 30 September, similar to arrangements for last year's year-end exams. This is to minimise the risk of school-based transmissions and reduce the number of students placed on Quarantine Order (QO) or Leave of Absence (LOA) prior to the examination. All students who are taking the PSLE must conduct an antigen rapid test (ART) swab test at home on Monday, 27 September, and send the result via class dojo to their form teachers latest by 4.00 pm. This will allow for sufficient time to take a confirmatory polymerase chain reaction swab test, should they be tested positive for ART swab or obtain two consecutive invalid ART results.

Please be assured that safe management measures (SMMs) will continue to be implemented in SYAS and our examination venues for the safe conduct of the PSLE national written examination from Thursday, 30 September to Tuesday, 5 October.

P6 students who are not eligible to take the PSLE will stay at home from 25 September to 8 October. P6 students who are taking PSLE will take a break from school from 6 to 8 October. Everyone must conduct an antigen rapid test (ART) swab test at home on 10 October and send the result via class dojo to their form teachers latest by    12.00 noon. This will allow for sufficient time to take a confirmatory polymerase chain reaction swab test, should they be tested positive for ART swab or obtain two consecutive invalid ART results. If there are no issues, all P6 students will report to school on 11 October at the usual time.
